This is a comprehensive introduction to the world of digital Chinese, including the following:

While it probably contains more information that the typical beginner needs, it's an excellent place to start if you have problems with fonts, input methods and so on. Learning to understand what's going on is essential, whereupon you can follow links to more detailed resources.
