Killing another batch of leeches, focusing on similar character like 厉/励 and 宜/具/直.
I also did some sorting between 'real' and not so real leeches in the last few days, toggling some suspended cards back into life.

Hi! You won a prize for your participation in this challenge, but there seems to be no email address associated with your user, so I can't reach out to you directly. Could you please send me an email?

Another session dedicated to killing leeches. I added a ‘note’ field to Anki to add some info such as character origin, mnemonics and shapes I often confuse.
It’s a long slow progress. Lesson learned, I changed leeches setting count to 5 and will include this activity more regularly from now in.

Another round of leeches. A very sobering fact, the first 30 represent about one full day of revising over the last 4 years. Worth spending a couple of extra hours getting rid of those. Outlier dictionary was useful and SmartHanzi equally so, if not more.

Same thing today. Daily anki and killing leeches.

Killing leeches today with Outlier dictionary in Pleco and Smarthanzi. Practised handwriting using Pleco's beta. The overhaul of the app is amazing, with so many new functionalities. I also had a bit of fun with my Grand Ricci.

Daily Anki. In recent months, the daily 45 minutes of passive voc + characters writing diet I’ve been on for almost 4 years is down to about 15+. I did an extra 15 minutes checking Skritter today for challenge’s sake, but I’m definitely veering towards much more reading and listening now that I have access to more interesting resources.

I worked a bit on creating a mandarin teacher assistant model with chat GPT4 with vocabulary focused parameters. It’s much better than 3.5. Daily Anki after that, and checked Du Chinese long forgotten vocabulary.

That's interesting! In what ways is GPT4 better than 3.5? Is it better at creating custom comp input based in user level? I had trouble in the past with that.

GPT 4 is trained over millions more samples than 3.5. It gives the illusion it's better if you're very vague in your prompt. But in the end, depending on what you ask, you might realize it's not that precise. It's a super fast and efficient assistant who didn't go that far in its studies, so is limited to summarizing knowledge.

I tested the flashcards section of Pleco’s beta with some new vocabulary and then Anki daily reviews. Added some words from listening to Imagin8 Journey to the West.

Spent some time reviewing and adding 皮皮鲁 vocabulary and rummaging through the beta of Pleco. The purchase of Outlier dictionary and the Pleco bundle last month proves an invaluable source of examples. Some vocabulary practice with my language partner (checking I can use last week's voc) and daily Anki practice.
